Young driver escapes injury

A Kresgeville teen escaped injury Thursday when his 2008 Suzuki Forenza left Hahns Dairy Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, and crashed near a home. State police at Lehighton said the accident occurred about 5:37 p.m. Troopers said Emilio A. Marti, 19, was westbound near a left curve when he lost control and struck shrubbery located along the south berm. The car then went over a drop off located in the yard at 705 Hahns Dairy Rd. and flipped over. The car then struck a tree/shrub at 685 Hahns Dairy Rd. while it was upside down. The car continued on and struck the northeast corner of the residence at 685 Hahns Dairy Rd., where it came to rest. Troopers said Marti climbed out of the back windshield of the car and then called 9-1-1. Troopers said Marti was charged with careless driving, driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed and traveling on roadways laned for traffic. Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Aquashicola Fire Company and Palmerton ambulance personnel.
