Jacob Heydt graduated from Carbon County Technical Institute in 2005 and was a member of the 2004 Olympians football team that finished with a 10-1 record. The 2004 team was the only team to finish the regular season with a record of 10-0 in school history.
While at Jim Thorpe, Heydt lettered in track as well as football throwing the shot put, discus, and javelin. Heydt also participated on the Olympian Power Lifting team in his four years, placing second in the 242-pound weight class at the Glen Mills Tournament in 2003.
Heydt was a four year member of the football team was a lineman on both offense and defense. He made the most impact of his career at the offensive tackle spot. The Olympians offense had a balanced attack in 2004 that scored a total of 426 points for the season, averaging 38.7 points per game and had an average margin of victory over 30 points per game.
As an offensive tackle on that unit, Heydt solidified a line that not only opened up holes for Jim Thorpe all-time leading rusher Jason Figura, but gave signal caller Dan Flizack adequate protection when throwing the football.
