A Schuylkill County teen was killed in a one-vehicle crash, while a motorcyclist was fatally injured when his bike collided with another vehicle, in two separate crashes that occurred Tuesday in Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville identified the teen killed as Jonathan P. Palubinsky, 18, of Mahanoy City. The accident occurred about 6:20 p.m. along Back Road in Ryan Township.
According to troopers, Palubinsky was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier LS northbound and rounding a curve. He lost control of the vehicle which slid across the road and struck an embankment along the berm. The car then rolled over with Palubinsky partially ejected. The car came to rest on the driver's side.
Palubinsky was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 15-year-old female passenger from Barnesville was slightly injured, but did not require immediate medical attention. Two other passengers, William A. Fazio III, 18, and a 16-year-old female, both of Mahanoy City, were not injured.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
The second fatal crash occurred along SR895 at an access road to the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds, in South Manheim Township, about 8:48 p.m.
State police at Schuylkill Haven did not immediately release the name of the victim because the next of kin has not been notified. Troopers did say he was a 56-year-old male who was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Troopers said the bike collided into a Volkswagen Jetta, which was exiting the fairgrounds and driven by a 17-year-old male from Schuylkill Haven.
Troopers said the investigation into the crash is continuing, but did note that the teen had activated his turn signal in attempting to turn onto 895. The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the crash is continuing. As of presstime this morning the name of the victim was still not released.
