A vehicle hit railing and a stone wall at the Carbon County courthouse in Jim Thorpe on Monday.
Borough Police Chief Joseph Schatz said the accident occurred about 7:58 a.m. at Hazard Square.
Schatz said Patrick Siefo, 58, of Nesquehoning, was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan, and was on the square and stopped for a vehicle backing out of a parking space across from the courthouse. His vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2012 Volkeswagen, driven by Sarah Bonner, 22, also of Nesquehoning.
Upon impact the Caravan moved forward, struck, and knocked down a section of railing at the side entrance to the courthouse, jumped the curb and struck the stone wall of the courthouse.
No one was injured. The Dodge had to be towed from the scene. Schatz estimated damages to the courthouse property to be moderate.
