A Hazleton man is wanted after Summit Hill police conducted a traffic stop and search.

According to borough police, on Dec. 2, 2011, at 3:11 p.m., officers were monitoring traffic at the Panther Valley High School entrance.

They stopped a vehicle, driven by Jason Paul Schmidt, 34, of 123 S. Woodward Court, that was speeding through the school zone.

During the traffic stop, police learned that the license plate on the vehicle was stolen and that Schmidt did not have a valid driver's license.

Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and found some controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Schmidt was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding in a school zone, driving while suspended and drivers required to be licensed.

Summit Hill police have a warrant for his arrest.
