Carbon County agencies want to know state legislators' thoughts on some hot topic issues, such as upcoming budgets and implementing support networks for county agencies.

That's why the Interagency Council of Carbon County, the Partners for Progress and Child and Family Collaborative Board has organized the third annual legislative brunch for area legislators and the public. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on April 27, at the Lehighton Recreation Center, 243 S. Eighth St., Lehighton. Brunch will be served at 9:30 a.m.During the two-hour event, local and state representatives and officials, including state Rep. Doyle Heffley, and state Sens. John Yudichak and David Argall, will present their thoughts on several hot topic issues being faced by many of the Carbon County agencies. Some questions that agencies hope will be answered include the governor's mandate and the upcoming budget.This is the third year the group has held the event, but the first year they have asked legislators to speak.At the first two brunches, members of various county agencies educated legislators on what they have to offer residents in the county and how the state budget cuts and changes were affecting their services. It also acted as a bridge between county and state officials.In addition to the brunch, the Interagency Council's $500 grant will also be awarded to one agency who meets all criteria for need. The grant is built off the registration fee for the brunch.Registration is required to attend the event.
