Regular trout season opens Saturday

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Officials with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) spent time stocking numerous waterways in our area in preparation for tomorrow's start of the regular trout season. Throughout Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission and cooperative nurseries plan to stock nearly four million yearling Brook, Brown and Rainbow trout, and over 8,000 trophy Golden trout. In Carbon County, along with the Lizard and Mahoning creeks, stocking takes place at the Lehigh River, Pohopoco Creek and Beltzville Lake. Volunteers throughout our area are a common site at stocking locations as they routinely assist PFBC officers with unloading the trucks and stocking the waterways. Richard Daniels Jr, Watersways Conservation Officer, Southeast Region, PFBC, stated the commissions appreciation to so many volunteers that come out every year to help them fill the waterways.
