State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers.

On March 31 about 5:44 a.m. troopers said a two-vehicle crash occurred along SR903, east of Maury Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Desirae A. Kline, 22, of Nesquehoning, was operating a 2009 Kia Borrego eastbound when she said she observed a deer run onto the roadway. She said she applied her brakes to avoid the animal and her car was struck from behind by a 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Nicholas R. Davis, 20, of Jim Thorpe.

Kline was injured and taken to the Lehighton hospital while Davis was not injured. There was heavy fog present at the time of the crash, troopers noted.

A crash occurred about 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, along Church Road in Penn Forest Township in which the driver fled the scene and which the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Jim Thorpe.

Troopers said a 1999 Dodge Dakota was driven southbound when it crossed over into the other lane and onto the berm where it hit a drainage ditch which caused it to roll over onto its roof. It came to rest in the northbound lane.

The car was reported stolen to Jim Thorpe police about 1:54 a.m. on Tuesday. Troopers were assisted at the scene by borough police and Penn Forest Fire Company personnel. The stolen vehicle is the property of Michael Hyska, 42, of Jim Thorpe.
