Monroe man jailed after chase

A Monroe County man was jailed following a high speed chase with police. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the incident began about 6:58 p.m. on March 29.

Police said they attempted to stop a red Infinity along SR115 for a motor vehicle code violation. The driver failed to stop and a chase began at a high rate of speed.Police were able to get the Infinity stopped at the intersection of 115 and SR903. The driver was identified as Matthew Shea, 21, of Saylorsburg. Through a check it was learned that Shea was wanted by state police at Belfast. He was taken into custody and lodge in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment and being returned to Northampton County.Pocono police charged him with fleeing and eluding. Police also obtained a search warrant for the Infinity. Found in the vehicle was drug paraphernalia and a pair of brass knuckles. Additional charges will be filed against Shea relating to the search of the vehicle.Pocono police were assisted by state police at Fern Ridge.
