Emergency personnel were called to Catawissa Road, near Meadown Lane, in Walker Township just after 10 p.m. Tuesday after Stephen Kantor, 37, of Tamaqua, driving a 2002 Ford Explorer north of Catawissa Road, overshot a turn, sideswiped a utility pole and came to rest on the west shoulder of the road. The sport utility vehicle (SUV) lost its tire and axle. The driver, who was returning from a food delivery for La Dolce Casa in Tamaqua, suffered minor injuries. State Police in Frackville reported that Kantor was treated by paramedics on scene and then transported to St. Luke's Hospital - Miner's Campus, Coaldale, for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Troopers said Kantor was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic and no seat belt. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Responding, in addition to state police, were Citizen's Fire Company, New England Fire Company, Tamaqua Rescue Squad and Tamaqua Ambulance.
