Jim Thorpe's track teams gained a sweep of North Schuylkill in scholastic action Tuesday.

PJ Johnson set a new school record and had three individual firsts in the Olympians' victory.

In other action, the Northern Lehigh and Pleasant Valley girls track teams earned wins, while the Marian softball team also posted a victory.

Pottsville-Jim Thorpe

Pottsville's Stephen Delinko struck out 11 of the 17 batters he faced to lead Pottsville to a 13-0 Schuylkill League Division 1 victory over Jim Thorpe.

Colton Knox's single was the lone hit for the Olympians.

Blue Mountain jumped all over Panther Valley early scoring seven runs in the first and second inning to run away with a 14-2 Schuylkill League Division 1 victory.

Richie Smith had an RBI double in the fourth inning and Thad Ogozalek knocked in the other run for the Panthers.

James Bromwell hit a two-run home run in the second inning for the Eagles.

Gabby Cann (three hits, three runs, two RBI), Sam Faust (three hits, two runs, two stolen bases), Shannon Skotek (three hits) and Jeanne Cannon (three hits, three RBI) led Marian by combining for 12 of the team's 13 hits.

For Panther Valley (0-3), Georgianna Butler had two singles.

Hazleton swept all three singles matches and rolled to a 4-1 victory over Jim Thorpe.

The tandem of Zach Nace and Brandon Huffman scored the Olympians' only point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.

The loss drops Jim Thorpe to 2-7 on the season.

Jim Thorpe posted a Schuylkill League sweep over visiting North Schuylkill with the boys winning 82-59, while the girls posted a one-point victory (71-70).

P.J. Johnson was a one-man wrecking crew for the Olympians with three individual wins, one relay win and one school record. With a leap of 5-11, Johnson set a new school record in the high jump. He also copped first-place finishes in the 100, long jump and 400 relay.

In the girls meet, the Lady Olympians only won 7 of 17 events with no multiple-event winners; however, three of those victories came in the relays, which proved to be the difference.

Catasauqua-No. Lehigh

The Northern Lehigh girls track team won 12 of 15 individual events and two of three relays to take home a 102-42 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Five Lady Bulldogs won two events apiece: Jessica Olewine (400, 800), Erika McKay (1600, 3200), Aimee Oertner (discus, triple jump), Tina Bastardi (javelin, long jump) and Brianna Handwerk (100 low hurdles, pole vault).

In the boys meet, Catasauqua edged the Bulldogs by a final score of 76-74.

Caleb Johnson won the 400 and 300 intermediate hurdles and tied for first in the high jump to lead Northern Lehigh, while Darien Middaugh (800, long jump) and David Getz (discus, triple jump) won two events apiece.

Stroudsburg's track and field teams combined to win 29 of 36 events, en route to a Mountain Valley Conference sweep of Lehighton.

The Mountaineers posted a 127-23 victory over the Lehighton boys. Eric Whiteman (shot put) and Jon Strauss (javelin) were the lone individual winners for the Indians.

In the girls meet, Stroudsburg recorded a 101-49 decision. Jen Beers (1600, 3200) and Gwen Remaley (shot put, discus) were double-event winners for Lehighton. Maris Stern was also a first-place finisher in the 100 low hurdles.

In Mountain Valley Conference action Pleasant Valley and East Stroudsburg South split in the Girls and Boys ranks.

ES South took care of the Bears in boys action dominating in the jumping and field events. Dakota Everett was the lone winner for PV in the throwing event, while John Wathen kept the Bears close, taking home first place in the 800 and 1600 Meter runs.

In girls competition the Lady Bears were in control throughout behind the outstanding performance of Kelecia Harris. Harris placed first in the 100, 200, long jump, and triple jump. A Lady Bear placed first in every event but the shot put.
