Harlan and Edith George of Palmerton, are celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary today. They were wed April 2, 1938 in Elton, Md.

Mrs. George is the former Edith Smith, daughter of the late Wilson and Emma Smith.Mr. George is the son of the late Charles and Minerva George.The couple has one daughter, Devoe Snyder of Little Gap. They also have one grandson, Randy Snyder of Kunkletown and two great-grandchildren, Melissa and Brandon Snyder.Lifelong residents of the Palmerton area, Harlan served in the United States Air Force during World War II and worked for the New Jersey Zinc Company for 43 years until his retirement. Edith worked in the garment industry for 39 years.They did a lot of traveling over the years and continue to work in their yard together.Harlan says they have a long and happy marriage because "We don't fight."
