This year's annual Carbon-Tamaqua ACS Telethon is being televised on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15, beginning at Noon and continuing until Midnight each day. The Telethon can be found on Blue Ridge Cable TV 13 and Service Electric TV. Come and see the live performance of the area's best talent, all while supporting the ACS at the famous Penn's Peak, located on Maury Road in Jim Thorpe. There is no charge for admission. Dining Services are available at Roadies Restaurant located at The Peak.
Although deaths due to cancer are down there remains much work to be accomplished. The telethon provides financial support with the hope that one day a cure will be found.
As part of the annual telethon, courage awards will be presented on the set Sunday evening. Maureen Donovan who coordinates this aspect of the program noted that the award is given to an individual who possesses great strength and courage in their battle against cancer.
For those wishing to make a personal donation to this year's telethon, you can stop by the Peak or call in your pledge.
The local ACS unit places a strong emphasis on the organization's mission which is:
to eliminate cancer as the major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Join the Carbon-Tamaqua Unit of the American Cancer Society in taking the battle with cancer in a better direction.
