Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on the following drug related arrests made by officers.
On Sunday, Sept. 25, about 12:40 a.m. a traffic stop was made along Interstate 380 north in Coolbaugh Township for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as Robert Montanez, 20, of Somerset, N.J. While speaking with Montanez police said they observed indicators of narcotic use. A further investigation of the vehicle yielded a small amount of marijuana and related drug paraphernalia. Charges of possession and possession of drug paraphernalia will be filed, police said.
On Saturday, Sept. 24, about 12:56 a.m. a traffic stop was made along SR940 at the Mt. Pocono Plaza in Mt. Pocono for violation of duties in emergency response areas, failure to move over for a law enforcement vehicle.
The driver was identified as a 17-year-old female from Kunkletown. Police observed indicators of narcotic use. A further investigation of the vehicle revealed an item of drug paraphernalia. The juvenile will be charged with a possession count.
On Sept. 2 about 10:50 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along Hemlock Drive at Green Road, for not having a license plate and no inspection sticker. The driver was identified as Andrew Turner, 23, no address given. A check revealed Turner's license was suspended.
During the stop officers detected the strong odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle police recovered marijuana, packaging material and several thousand dollars of U.S. currency.
Turner and his passenger, Michael Turner, 18, no address given, were both placed under arrest on drug counts and arraigned before a district judge. Both were committed to the county prison in Snydersville in lieu of bail, police said.
