The Mahoning Valley Fire Company obtained a new rescue tool which will enable firefighters to more quickly extricate trapped motor vehicle accident victims. David Pollock, fire chief, said the gigantic, scissors-shaped machine was purchased from Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corporation, Nesquehoning, at a cost of $8,500. He said it is a Phoenix model, manufactured in Hatboro, by F. M. Brick, Co. In the past, the Mahoning fire company had to rely on neighboring Lehighton Fire Department for use of its similar tool in extrication situations.
