Tamaqua man faces corruption charges

Anthony Carlino, 52, of 508 Arlington St., Tamaqua, faces charges from an incident which took place on Oak Street in Lansford on Feb. 3, 2010. Charges of corruption of minors and harassment were filed by Officer Robert Shubeck.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:On Feb. 25, 2010, Joseph Schminkey reported to Shubeck that on Feb. 3, 2010, Carlino sent Schminkey's 9-year-old daughter a text message that included a pornographic picture.Shubeck asked Schminkey why he had not reported the incident when it happened. Schminkey said he had just found out about it, and that his daughter had kept it from him because she knew he would get mad at Carlino.The text message, "You've been tea bagged" and obscene picture had come from Carlino's cell phone.Carlino admitted to sending the message and picture. Carlino told Shubeck he had talked about it after he sent it, and that Schminkey had said "don't worry about it."In Carlino's written statement, he wrote that he sent the picture text to the girl, but didn't know what it was. He wrote that he just sent it, and when the girl's mother told him about it, he said he didn't know what it was and apologized to her.Carlino also wrote that "this stuff wasn't a problem" until having Schminkey arrested for assaulting him.
