Erik Joseph Hertweck, 30, of 456 Unionville Road, Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, is facing charges of hit-and-run and endangering the welfare of children as a result of an incident at 7:50 p.m. Aug. 8 in Jim Thorpe.
Police said they were dispatched to 12 W. Sixth St. to investigate a hit-and-run incident and learned Hertweck was driving a silver Nissan Pathfinder when he arrived at the residence to pick up his children (ages 4, 5 and 9) from their mother, Jayleen Hertweck.
Police said after placing the children in the vehicle, Hertweck began to continuously deploy his horn and yell for Jayleen's boyfriend, Michael Deacy, to exit the residence.
When Deacy exited the home, he observed Hertweck ram into a parked vehicle with the Pantfinder. He reportedly continued to spin the wheels of his vehicle before leaving the scene.
Hertweck is also facing multiple Motor Vehicle Code violations.
