Weissport Redneck Festival will be held this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 3 and Sunday, Sept. 4, in the Weissport Park, which is held smack dab in the middle of the town.

Festivities, including the Redneck games, contests and food vendors and live entertainment will be from noon to 9 or 10 p.m. both days. Proceeds from the event benefit youth recreation in Weissport. This festival lets everyone be part of the event or they can cheer on the participants who compete in the contests.

Saturday's events include the Zimmie's and Hot Wings contest, Ugliest versus Jacked Up Pickup Truck Contest, Junkman's Contest, Mr. Redneck Contest and Miss Daisy Duke Contest.

Sunday's events are a Watermelon Eating Contest, Big Wheel Contest, Chariot Race, Korniest Couple, Tractor Race, Tug-A-War, I Luv My Mummy Contest and Best Rack Contest.

Sign up for the events will be held throughout the festival and registration will close approximately 15 minutes before an event is scheduled to begin.

There will also be a talent show, "Rednecks Got Talent II, which gives festival attendees the opportunity to tell jokes, put on a skit or sing a Redneck type song. The talent show will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Entertainment will be provided on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. by Banned From the Ranch, a country rock band and on Sunday, from 6 to 9 by Final Justice, another country rock band.

There will also be plenty of Redneck delicacies to sample in park such as pork barbecue, corn dogs and corn on the cob and then visitors can wash down the succulent food with plenty of sweet tea or beer.
