An elderly motorist escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when involved in a crash along SR443 in Mahoning Township. The crash occurred at 1:30 p.m. as the driver was heading east and apparently blacked out at the wheel. His car swerved across the roadway entering the north berm before it came to rest against some bushes. He managed to exit the car on his own. He was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance before being transferred to the Lehighton hospital for evaluation. The Mahoning Valley Fire Company responded to the scene. Mahoning Valley Fire Police maintained traffic control at the scene reducing the roadway to one lane. Mahoning township police are investigating the incident.
