Jim Thorpe picked up victories in both boys and girls soccer on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER

The Olympians recorded three unanswered goals in the first half against Weatherly to pull out a 3-1 Schuylkill League win.

Matt Rich scored twice for the winners, while Corey Ligenza added the other tally. Benny Manzella assisted on one of Rich's scores.

Dylan McDonald scored unassisted for the Wreckers in the second half to make things interesting.

Samson Walton stopped 11 shots on goal for Weatherly. The tandem of Matt Miller and Justin Kaminski stopped four shots each.

GIRLS SOCCER

Chelsea Smelas scored four goals to lead Jim Thorpe to a 6-3 victory over Weatherly in a Schuylkill League game.

Kristin Lawrence and Jenna McElmoyle also added goals for Olympians.

For Weatherly, Erin Dougherty scored a pair of goals and Alexis Boyarski scored once.

Tamaqua-Blue Mt.

With the score knotted at two at the end of regulation, the Lady Raiders and Blue Eagles went to overtime, where BM's Lexi Towne scored the game-winner to push her squad to the 3-2 win.

For Tamaqua, Kayla Hope and Kailee Rottet both scored individual goals to keep things close.

Tanisha Farber stopped seven shots in goal for the Raiders, who outshot the Eagles, 13-9 in the contest.

FIELD HOCKEY

Bangor-Pleasant Vy.

The Lady Slaters flexed their muscle against Pleasant Valley, shutting out the Lady Bears, 3-0.

Abigail Bakke got things started for Bangor (16-0-2). Teammate Emily Howell recorded two second half scores to round it out.

Pleasant Valley's Hannah Bard stopped 11 in the losing effort.
