Drown your fires

Dear Editor:

I'm going to title this story "Burning Down the House." Why you ask? Here is why.On a very recent camping trip to Hickory Run State Park, in which my husband and myself call our second home, we were amazed at the irresponsible behavior exhibited by some campers as they drove away, heading for home, while their campfire pits were still smoking from embers glowing in these pits. Imagine that! All it takes is one pop from one of the embers to burn down the whole park, leaving one of the most beautiful state parks in PA in ashes, not to mention home to thousands of wildlife without a home, hence "Burning Down the House."Please, all you campers, hikers from PA, NY, NJ, MD, etc. be responsible, drown your fires before you leave, even for a short time. It only takes a second to burn down a lifetime of growth.Thank you,Barbara "Wink" ScottSummit Hill
