State police at Lehighton reported investigating a hit-and-run crash on Nov. 24 at 6:11 a.m. along Route 443 in East Penn Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Derek P. Whritenour, 40, of Ashland, Schuylkill County, was driving a 2019 Ford Edge eastbound behind another vehicle. Troopers said the driver of the other vehicle suddenly stopped, causing Whritenour to apply his brakes and swerve to the left to avoid a collision. The other vehicle continued in his lane with the front making contact with the side of Whritenour’s vehicle and then the driver fled the scene. Whritenour was not injured and he was able to drive his vehicle from the scene.
