Residents in the village of Mantzville in West Penn Township were shaken this morning by a report of an armed robbery to one of their neighbors. West Penn Township Police responded at 5:30 a.m. to a report of an armed robbery on St. Peters Road near the intersection with Mantzville Road. Reportedly, Jariel Curtis, of 9 St. Peters Road, was knocked to the ground by two males, one white and one black, after he answered two knocks at his front door. Holding Curtis to the floor, the two men held him at bay with the gun to his head. They also took Curtis into the kitchen as they searched for money and valuables. The address is one of numerous apartment units located at the intersection in what was formerly known as the St. Michael's Home. The two made off with a laptop and other items, possibly driving a dark Kia, believed headed for the Panther Valley/Summit Hill area. Carbon County police were placed on alert for the two. The pair is similar to the two men reported in a shooting incident in Lansford late Sunday night, also believed to be from the Panther Valley area. West Penn Police officer Melissa Boyer is the investigating officer. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at (570) 386-1100 or 911.
