Pocono regional police plan special program

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police are sponsoring a special program enforcing its strategy in the unification of law enforcement agencies throughout the nation.

The PMRP Foundation is sponsoring the appearance of retired New York Police Department (NYPD) officer and child's rights advocate Joe Mazzilli of the A&E program Runaway Squad along with Det. Roxanne Lopez and fellow cast members of the hit series Manhunters Fugitive Task Force to a reception at 5 p.m. on Oct. 15 at The Inn at Pocono Manor in Pocono Manor.PMRP chief Harry Lewis said Mazzilli spent 15 years with the NYPD busting every kind of criminal, dealing with every kind of crime. He said Mazzilli witnessed first-hand the fate of runaways who end up abused, exploited, addicted to drugs and sometimes dead. After retiring from the NYPD Mazzilli has dedicated a large portion of his private investigation company's time and resources "pro-bono" to saving runaway teenagers and helping them reconcile with their distraught families.Lopez, Lewis said, has an extensive law enforcement resume' which began in 1997 with the NYPD. Lewis said her career yields a vast away of assignments from patrol beat and SWAT to her recent assignment in the Special Investigations Unit. Her interrogation skills have earned her a reputation amongst criminals wary of their fate once she entered the interrogation room, Lewis added.Members of the community are invited to attend the reception at the Pocono Manor. Information and registration is available online at

www.pmrpf.com or by calling Lewis at (570)-895-2400.
