A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday evening after she was struck by a vehicle in downtown Jim Thorpe.
According to Jim Thorpe police, at approximately 6:32 p.m., Michele Leonard, 55, of Sussex, N.J., was attempting to cross Route 209, near the courthouse annex, in Jim Thorpe, when she was struck by a vehicle, driven by Cruzmaria Gonzalez, 66, of Lehighton.
Patrolman Leo Clements Jr., the investigating officer, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. Leonard was injured and flown by helicopter to St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.
Jim Thorpe Police and a state police Accident Reconstruction Unit are investigating the accident.
