Several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by state police at Lehighton.
Troopers said about 10:26 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, officers stopped a vehicle along SR443 at Mall St., in Mahoning Township, Carbon County, for driving at an unsafe speed and following another vehicle too closely. The driver was identified as Timothy Michael Ahner, Sharpe St., Lansford.
He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest. In addition to the DUI charge Ahner will also be charged with driving at an unsafe speed and following too closely, troopers said.
Also on Sunday, about 8:33 p.m. police made a traffic stop along SR873 at Holiday Road, in East Penn Township, Carbon County. The driver was identified as Jason S. Oruska, 24, of Schnecksville, Lehigh County. He was found to be under the influence and in possession of marijuana. The DUI charge is pending blood test results, troopers said.
A third traffic stop on Sunday occurred about 7:48 p.m. along Kunkletown Road at Rolling Hills Road, in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a vehicle was stopped for several motor vehicle code violations.
The driver was identified as Randy S. Smith, 51, of Kunkletown. He was found to be under the influence and was placed under arrest for DUI. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers added.
On Monday, Nov. 14, about 1:04 a.m. troopers stopped a vehicle for traffic violations along SR248 eastbound in Palmerton. The driver was identified as Meggan A. Wildman, 26, of Northampton. She was found to be under the influence and placed under arrest for DUI. Charges will be filed, troopers said.
