A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of hit and run following an incident that occurred about 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, in the area of 10 W. Grand Ave. (SR209), in Tower City.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said John J. Mayersky, 35, of Tower City, was driving a 1996 GMC Jimmy northbound at an unsafe speed. He lost control of the Jimmy and struck the left rear passenger door of a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina parked along the berm pushing it about 45 feet north.

The Jimmy continued north and struck the left rear taillight and quarter panel of a 1999 Ford F150 pickup truck parked along the berm.

After the second impact Mayersky fled the scene but was later located and charged, troopers said. Mayersky is facing numerous motor vehicle code violations, troopers added.
