Seventeen enter guilty pleas

A Minersville man was sentenced for criminal trespass on state game lands in Rush Township and a Girardville man for posting threats on a internet Facebook site. They were among 17 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in the Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin.

Shane Carl Bordner, 39, on a charge of defiant trespass on state game lands in Rush Township was fined $75 and ordered to pay $50 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and pay costs of prosecution. Bordner was cited by Trooper Mark Knock.Andrew C. Bakerofskie, 20, on a charge of terroristic threats posted on Facebook, a communication device on the Internet, to Scott and Patricia Yaglieniskie, Frackville, was placed on probation for 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Frackville Patrolman George Parnell.Mieka Edelstein, also known as Andrew Balliet, 30, Pottsville, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was placed on probation 12 months after receiving credit for serving 86 days in the county prison. He also was ordered to pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, and pay $100 to CJEA. He was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Brian Reno. On a charge of giving false information to Patrolman Reno he must serve an additional six months on probation.Dennis James Benjamin, Shenandoah, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs, was sentenced to served 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, June 10, at 6 p..m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient treatment and driver's license suspended 12 months. On the charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana must serve an additional 30 days on probation. Benjamin was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey.Amy Lynn Bressler, 23, Schuylkill Haven, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance (CS) was given credit for serving 46 days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months, and ordered to pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Bressler was cited by Saint Clair Patrolman Martin Sterner.Paul William Buel, 24, Lykens, Dauphin County, on a charge of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Wednesday, May 25, at 5 p.m., pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and license suspended 12 months. Buel was cited by Frackville Cpl. Marvin LIvergood.Kandi Louise Cope, 50, Girardville, on a charge of theft of lottery tickets from Turkey Hill Mini Mart in Lavelle, Butler Township, while employed as a clerk, was placed on probation for 12 months, ordered to pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $383.41 to the store. Cope was cited by Chief Edward Tarantelli.Salisa Ann Djaye, 43, Pottsvile, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was sentenced to serve three to 12 months in the county prison effective Friday, June 3, pay $100 to SAE fund, and $50 to CJEA. Djaye was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Richard J. Pugh.Anthony James Edmondson, 21, Girardville, on a charge of criminal conspiracy to burglarize the Girardville Beverage building, was sentenced to serve three to 23 months in the county prison beginning Wednesday, May 26, at 5 p.m. On a charge of delivery of a controlled substance in Girardville was given a concurrent sentence of one 23 months in prison. He also must pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA, restitution of $452 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $90 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force. He was cited on the conspiracy charge by Trooper James Cuttitta and must make restitution of $2,954.03 to Joseph Kaleda, victim.Jared W. Hossler, 24, Port Carbon, on a charge of cruelty to animals was given credit for serving 10 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 12 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. Hossler was cited by Port Carbon Chief Jon J. Bowman, who charged Hossler kicked a dog.Kaitlyn Lee Hostetter, 21, Pottsville, on two counts of DUI was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, pay fines totaling $2,000, pay $400 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA, $100 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and undergo intensive outpatient treatment and license suspended 12 months.On a summary charge of failing to give immediate notice of being involved in an accident was fined $25 and driving the wrong way on a one way street fined $25 plus $100 in costs. Hostetter was cited by Trooper John B. Carr in Pottsville and by Pottsville Sgt. William DeWald. On a charge of simple assault brought by Pottsville Patrolman Richard J. Pugh, was given a concurrent 12 months probation sentence and pay $50 to CJEA.Larry Joe Kaufman, Gordon, on three counts of sales of firearms was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) to serve 23 months on probation with the first 30 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee and pay $100 to CJEA. He was cited by Trooper Johnn SlebodaJeffrey Michael McAnaney, 22, Mechanicsville, on a charge of false report to police was placed on probation 18 months, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Pottsville Cpl. Mark O'Toole.Amber Lauren McCracken, 22, Girardville, on a charge of criminal attempt to commit burglary of the home of Margaret Hennessy, 207 "A" Street, Girardville, was sentenced to serve 11 and 1/2 to 23 months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Wednesday, June 1, at 10 a.m., and pay $50 to CJEA. She also must make restitution of $385 to the victim. McCracken was cited by Trooper James Cuttitta.On a charge of criminal mischief she was fined $25. On a charge of giving false information to police that an unknown person held a knife to her throat she was sentenced to serve an additional one year on probation.Harold Jefferson Royal, 55, Minersville, on a charge of public drunkenness was fined $300, and pay $50 to CJEA. He was cited by Minersville Patrolman Richard C. Clink.David C. Schaeffer, 24, Pottsville, on a DUI charge was placed in the IPP to serve 15 days under house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee followed by four months and 45 days on strict probation, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, receive outpatient counseling and license suspended 12 months. Schaeffer was cited by Saint Clair Sgt. William Dempsey.Robert Edward Martin, 22, Mahanoy City, pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, corruption of minors and indecent assault . His sentence was deferred to Tuersday, Aug. 9. Martin was cited by Mahanoy City Chief Mark Wiekrykas.Each defendant must also pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
