Island Breeze celebrates 15 years

Island Breeze Tanning Salon and Gifts will commemorate its 15th anniversary June 1 with a celebration for its customers on June 4.

Owner Jean Reabold wanted to do something for herself 15 years ago and thus, Island Breeze was born.Since then, Reabold's salon has expanded from four beds to nine, eight of which are horizontal and one that is vertical, to meet growing demand from customers. Each room has its own name such as Bali Hai and each bed is controlled through a computer, to ensure the customer's safety.Reabold and her husband, Earl, are both certified through the Suntanning Association for Education to guarantee the best possible experience for the customer."I get customers who come from as far as Bethlehem and Easton," said Reabold. "My customers love it. They call it the 'Taj Mahal' of tanning because I provide things like a towel and candy."Reabold, who is all about her customers, will celebrate the salon's 15th anniversary on Saturday, June 4 with refreshments and giveaways such as gas cards. The celebration continues through the month of June when customers will receive an extra five sessions with whichever package they purchase. In addition to tanning services and supplies, Reabold also sells a variety of collectibles such as Old Virginia Candles, various figurines, kitchen faries and angels, which are her biggest seller."I never expected us to be here for 15 years," said Reabold. "There was a time when we almost closed but we made it through."Island Breeze is open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and then 2 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday and closed on Sunday.
