The two-day electronics recycling (e-recycling) event, held in Lower Towamensing Township April 25-26 by the Carbon County Department of Solid Waste in cooperative effort with Advanced Green Solutions collected 17,053 pounds of electronic recyclables.

Items collected included computer towers, and their peripherals such as printers and monitors, VCRs, radios, photocopiers, typewriters, speakers, hard drives and circuit boards, laptops, scanners, TVs and telecom equipment. All components are being dismantled, reused and recycled in a safe and environmental manner; hard drives are destroyed to insure sensitive or personal information is protected.

Carbon County and its residents saved nearly $700 in avoided disposal costs for this two-day event and by accepting these items for free, Advanced Green Solutions saved the county and its residents another $5,100.

Carbon County has worked with Advanced Green Solutions for several years recycling computers and related equipment.
