JROTC awards night
The Panther Valley High School's JROTC will hold its Award Night on Friday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in the high school.
All former cadets are invited to honor SFC Steve Caddy in his final awards night.
St. Paul Lutheran
The schedule for St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, for Sunday, May 15, is as follows:
Gary Blake will present a Temple talk for Literacy Sunday, speaking on the important effort by the DOCS committee and its presentation of books to children in our area schools.
The Confirmation class will meet at 6:30 that evening.
The service schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, May 15, is as follows:
Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.
The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.
In conjunction with Memorial Day, the Summit Hill Historical Society will again be putting veterans' pictures on display in its museum window. The photographs should be framed and labeled with the veteran's name and years of service on them, and can contain any other pertinent information about the serviceman/woman's service. Persons donating the photographs for use should put their telephone number on the backs of the frames so that they can be promptly returned.
The pictures can be dropped off at the Summit Hill Water Authority office or arrangements will be made to obtain them by calling Maxine Vermillion, (570) 645-9772.
S.H. Heritage center
The Summit Hill Heritage Center will present the Bach and Handel Chorale on Saturday, May 14 at 3 p.m. at the center, 1 West Hazard St., Summit Hill.
A freewill offering will be accepted.
The Borough of Lansford has set the date for the Annual Community Yard Sale. It will take place on Saturday, May 14, with a rain date of Saturday, May 21.
Residents are not required to obtain permits to participate in this community event.
The Rev. Joe Giordano of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary will visit St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, on Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15. He will speak at all of the Masses, explaining the mission work of the congregation.
