The fourth annual Prom and Wedding Dress Sale, held Tuesday at Penn's Peak raised $3,559. All the proceeds from the sale will go to the Blue Ridge Chapter of Dream Come True, an organization that grants wishes for seriously ill children.

Last year's sale raised over $2,000, while the year before raised over $3,000. Julianne Farina, marketing and public relations coordinator for Blue Ridge Communications and an organizer of the annual dress sale, stated that her goal for this year was to surpass both those totals and hit $3,500.Farina was happy to say they met their goal and surpassed it."I feel awesome! We had a great turnout," said Farina. "It's a great feeling seeing people come out and support the cause."Prom dresses were sold at $10, $20, or $30. Wedding dresses were sold at $50. Shoes were sold at $10 and other accessories, like purses, were sold at $5.Farina said that this sale gives girls in the area the chance to buy a nice dress for a bargain price, while also helping out Dream Come True.Michelle Patiri of Albrightsville came out to buy a dress for her prom."I heard the sale had affordable dresses and thought it was great that the sale benefits a good cause," said Patiri.There were between 600 and 700 dresses available for sale and all of the dresses and accessories were donated by people in the community."The community has been awesome. Without them and their donations, we wouldn't have all these dresses," stated Farina.Before the doors opened at 4 p.m. over a hundred people lined up in Penn's Peak waiting to shop. Throughout the sale the dress racks were constantly surrounded by girls looking for that perfect dress."The turnout was great. We had hundreds of people attend the sale," said Farina. "It's such a special thing. It's a lot of work but it's so worth it."
