Say "car club" and the first thing that comes to many people's mind are shiny, colorful, chrome-laden motor vehicles of days gone by on display and cruising the highways.

While that is indeed true, it is not the only thing that some car clubs do together.

Clubs like the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club of Jim Thorpe also devote a lot of time and effort to helping out others in need of assistance.

True to their club motto of "turning our passion for cars into compassion for others", the Jukebox Cruisers help and financially donate to a variety of local and national charities.

Among the charitable organizations that they hold fundraising cruises for are: Men of Marian, Lehighton Celebration, Penns Peak Cruise for the Armed Forces, Lehighton Ford for Relay for Life, Carbon County Friends of Animals, United Way, Maple Shade Personal Home, Mauch Chunk Rod and Gun Club, and Jim Thorpe Little League.

Some of the parades that the Jukebox Cruisers participate in are the Lehighton Halloween Parade, the Lansford Halloween Parade, and the Veteran's Day Parade.

The club also holds cruises on the last Friday of the month from April to September from Phifer Ice Dam to help raise funds for charities.

Among those charities are : Carbon Masonic Lodge No. 242 Safety Kids Day, Special Olympics, Franklin Township Lions Club, Cancer Society, Dream Come True, Lansford Library, Shepherd House Food Bank, Palmerton Library, Muscular Dystrophy Association, M.S. Society, Diabetes Association, Make A Wish, Toys for Tots, and Ronald McDonald House.

Donation amounts from the Jukebox Cruisers Car Club range between $250 and $2,000.
