The French and Spanish Honor Societies of Marian High School inducted 17 students at a special Mass celebrated in the school gymnasium.

Taking part in the ceremony were the officers of the French Honor Society: Jessica McKinley, President; Sara Pisak, Vice-President; Maria Oberto, Secretary; Tyler Zawatski, Treasurer The officers of the Spanish Honor Society are: Laura Cinicola, President; Michael Moran, Vice-President; Dominick Richards, Secretary; Holly Massar, Treasurer.

The new members received membership certificates from Sister Bernard Agnes, Principal, who praised the students for their achievements.

The Reverend Eugene Ritz, a 2000 graduate of Marian, was celebrant of the Mass. Parts of the Mass were read in French and Spanish as well as English.

After the ceremony, a continental breakfast reception was enjoyed by the members, their parents and guests in the cafeteria.

The new members of the French Honor Society are sophomores John Julian, Sabrina Krupko, Nicholas Kweder and Marykate Sherkness.

Inducted into the Spanish Honor Society were sophomores Nicole Collevechio, Theresa DeFebo, Jessica DeLash, Samantha Faust, Jessica Horlacher, Ryan Karnish, Nathaniel Keer, Isabella Macoviak, Damian Richards, Kasey Rossell, Kara Sedlack, Eric Swankoski, Taylor Troyanoski and Sarah Zurawa.

The moderators of the societies are Maureen Heffelfinger, French Honor Society and Deborah Coles, Spanish Honor Society.
