The Fourth Annual Hunter Meckes Memorial Soccer Tournament will be held Sunday, April 17 at the Lehighton Area High School soccer fields. The event starts at 9 a.m. U-9 to U-18 teams will be playing. D.J. Larry will be spinning tunes and there refreshments by Jim Thorpe Girls Soccer Club. There will also be a bake sale. Proceeds from the basket event will be donated to Hunter Wolfe, who has leukemia, to help with his medical expenses. Proceeds from the soccer event will fund scholarships in the name of Hunter Meckes, which will be presented to seniors in Lehighton and Jim Thorpe schools at end of school year award assemblies.

The event is being coordinated by Sherry Meckes, with the assistance of the Lehighton Soccer Club. Meckes hosts the event every year so that her son's name will never be forgotten. Hunter Meckes died in an accident on Jan. 27, 2003. She organized the past three year's soccer tournament events to raise funds for scholarships in her young son's name because the boy loved to play soccer
