In an attempt to streamline project deadlines, Palmerton Area School Board will conduct a series of special meetings.
The district has advertised for the board to hold the special meetings prior to its monthly committee workshop, the first of which is today at 5 o'clock.
Superintendent Carol Boyce said the special meetings will help expedite the board's ability to move forward with project deadlines.
"It will give us the opportunity to act more efficiently on the construction items and respond better to deadlines for the projects," Boyce said. "In addition, it will assist with getting approvals for hiring, if any, rather than having to wait a month."
Boyce continued that "in the event there is no urgent business which needs board approval, then the special meetings will be canceled, and the notice posted of the cancellation."
The committee workshops will still be held regardless, she said. Further, Boyce said the special meetings will have no effect on the board's regularly scheduled monthly meetings.
"It will not impact the regular third Tuesday board meetings at all," she said. "They will remain the same."
The board has also advertised to hold meetings at 5 p.m. April 5; May 3; June 7; July 12; Aug. 2; Sept. 6; Oct. 4; and Nov. 1. All meetings are subject to change with prior advertising.
