Trees can be seen growing from the steeple of the former St. Ann's church at 8 E. Bertsch Street, Lansford. The Allentown Diocese closed St. Ann's, along with 46 other churches, in July 2008 in anticipation of a shortage of priests. The diocese is selling the buildings, as well as their stained glass windows and other religious artifacts. The closures shuttered seven churches in Carbon County. In June, 2009, the body of the Rev. Leo Fahey was exhumed from his resting place at the church, and re-interred at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Jim Thorpe. Fahey was buried at St. Ann's in 1919, according to

diocese records.
