New York driver seriously injured

A New York state driver was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 6:45 p.m. on Monday, June 20, along Interstate 81 in Butler Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Jimmy C. McMurry Jr., 45, of Cicero, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The car began to spin and spun off the road. The car entered a ditch along the median, struck an embankment, several trees, and then flipped over onto the roof. The car then rolled over several times coming to rest about a tenth of a mile from where it left the road.McMurry was trapped inside and had to be freed by rescue personnel. He was then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. The investigation into the crash is continuing, troopers added.
