Summer Reading programs begin this week at the Panther Valley Public Library for children ages 3-5 and for students entering kindergarten through fifth grade.
Please call the library at (570) 645-3780 for more details.
Also, area churches have been asked to sponsor snacks and drinks for the reading program.
Churches that would like to join the effort are asked to call the library for details.
The library is in need of volunteers during the summer. Anyone age 14 and over may apply to volunteer and take a brief training to become a library volunteer.
Volunteers are needed on Monday mornings from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; Tuesday evenings from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Volunteers under the age 14 will need parental consent to volunteer.
Anyone wishing to volunteer and able to commit for the month of July, is asked to call the library.
Parent/guardian permission slips are at the library and need to be completed for anyone under the age of 18 who wishes to use library computers to access the Internet. A parent or guardian must sign the form in person at the library.
There will be a suggestion box placed at the library circulation desk asking area citizens what they need from their local library.
Please let staff know if you are looking for certain types of books, newspapers, magazines, services, etc. The library board will review all suggestions and see how they can help.
The library is open during the summer from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is also open from 9 a.m. to noon and then from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesdays. The library is located at 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford
