TNT Studio of Dance, located in Lehighton, is gearing up for its annual dance recital to benefit the American Cancer Society. It will take place at Jim Thorpe Area High School at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.
Each June, the studio performs its recital at the Jim Thorpe Area High School. Each student is given the chance to shine for a wonderful cause.
With every ticket sold, program purchased and ad placed in the playbill, the funds are added to a "pot" to be handed over to the American Cancer Society at its annual telethon at Penn's Peak each spring.
This year the studio will be "Dancing Through the Seasons."
Over the last six years, TNT has donated over $14,000 to ACS with funds raised from its recitals. The amount is in addition to funds raised by its "sister studio," Gloria Dillon Studio of Dance in Tamaqua. Gloria stages her recital at Jim Thorpe Area High School on June 19.
When these two studios combine their powers, the American Cancer Society sees the fruits of their labor.
It is thanks to the program advertisers, parents, friends and family who attend the shows that these two studios have been able to make such a difference in the community.
The top ad seller for 2011 was Caitlyn Dry, Palmerton, whose efforts raised almost $800 alone for the ACS.
She will be officially crowned dance queen at the 2011 show. Caitlyn has been the top seller two years in a row.
Each student will receive a trophy at the show awarding them for their achievements over this past year. Students also receive 5-year, 10-year and 15-year achievement trophies in addition to a perfect attendance medal ceremony.
Not only giving these children the chance to shine, studio officials believe they are teaching them the importance of giving back.
By donating all proceeds from the shows, it is a way to show the future of our communities how to help those in need.
