Change is in the air in the Northern Lehigh School District, as two administrators have accepted positions outside the district.

The school board unanimously agreed on Monday to accept the resignation of high school principal Aileen Yadush, who has accepted a position as high school principal in the Northwestern Lehigh School District. It becomes effective the end of the work day June 30, 2011.

After the meeting, business manager Jeremy Melber told the TIMES NEWS he also plans to resign from his position in August, having accepted a position as the new director of business services in the Southern Lehigh School District.

Superintendent Michael Michaels told Yadush she will be missed.

"It is with all sincerity and regret that we will be accepting the resignation of an outstanding person," Michaels said. "All nine board members have had nothing but good things to say about her."

"We're going to miss you. We wish you well," board president Edward Hartman said.

Yadush will return to Northwestern Lehigh, where she began her educational career as a math teacher. She later served briefly in various administrative roles there and in Whitehall, before becoming high school principal at Northern Lehigh in 2006.

"It's such a bitter sweet time," Yadush said. "I just love Northern Lehigh; this is my home, it's where I grew up."

While she looks forward to her return to Northwestern Lehigh, Yadush said her decision to leave Northern Lehigh wasn't easy.

"I'm going to miss everyone, especially the kids," she said. "Graduation will be difficult."

Melber's announcement came soon after the board deleted a motion listed on the agenda to vote to give him a 3.5-percent salary percentage increase beginning July 1, 2011.

"It was a very bitter sweet decision for me," Melber said. "A great opportunity presented itself that I felt I could not pass up at this time in my career."

Melber, who became business manager in 2008, said his resignation will be listed on the agenda when the school board next meets at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8.

"Northern Lehigh is a great district, and I certainly will miss my staff, employees, and especially working for Superintendent Michaels," he said. "I will stay on with the district until mid-August and transition my office over."

In an unrelated matter, Michaels recognized senior Justin Molitoris for his "outstanding service" as student representative to the board.

"He is a breath of fresh air," Michaels said. "Congratulations, Justin, and good luck."
