On Thursday evening, June 16, the Lehighton Band along with the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band will begin the annual "Concert Under The Stars" series with a concert in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater beginning at 8 p.m.
The concert will begin with the Prep Band from the Boys and Girls Band playing three selections under the direction of Mrs. Lora Krum.
The Prep Band is comprised of the younger members of the Boys and Girls Band.
After their selections they will be joined by the members of the Senior Band to play "Castles And Dragons."
The Senior Band (the older members of the Boys and Girls Band) will take the stage to play "Chunk A Funk" directed by assistant conductor, Jacquelin DePue. Conductor Krum will lead the band in "Stick To It," Cherrywood Park," and "March Of The Dragonmasters."
The Lehighton Band, under the direction of Paul R. Smith, will be featured next playing "March Pomposo" followed by the overture of the night, "Lustslpiel."
The band will play several other selections including a medley of all-time Broadway hits entitled "Broadway Show Stoppers" and ending with the march "The Klaxon."
The two bands will combine to play the rest of the concert including "Astro Overture," "Marianne" and "Colonel March" under the direction of Mrs. Krum.
These numbers will be followed by "Jamaican Sailaway," "Swing Your Partner," selections from "Fiddler On The Roof" and "Military Escort March" conducted by Mr. Smith.
The concert will conclude with Mrs. Krum leading the bands and audience in our national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner."
The concert is being sponsored by businesses, professional people and music lovers from throughout the region.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Lehighton Boys and Girls Band Hall at Sixth and Cypress Streets, Lehighton.
