A Mahoning Township man was hurt in a crash on Route 209 Tuesday evening.

Zachary Hoffman (no age given) was backing out of his driveway at 727 N. First St. Lehighton (Mahoning Township) at 6:32 p.m., and backed into the path of Brian Berger (no age given), of the 100 block of West Ridge St. Nesquehoning.Berger had been traveling south on Route 209 in a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, Mahoning Township Police Chief Kenneth Barnes said in a report released Wednesday.Berger was treated at the scene by emergency ambulance crews.Hoffman sustained head and back injuries and was taken to Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton.Both vehicles were towed.The roadway was shut down for about an hour.The accident is still under investigation, Barnes said.
