Please be more responsible with loaned books. That is what Gayle Heath, Tamaqua Library director, is tellling people while stressing the number of hours wasted cleaning and restoring damaged books returned the the library. "People are returning books with tears, rips and even food stuck between the pages," stated Heath. She added, "People in Tamaqua are extremely generous when it comes to donating books and I hate throwing books out." She is asking people to be responsible for any damages they may do, pointing out the diminishing state funds being given to libraries. The library's annual Book and Bake Sale, their main fundraiser, is planned for Saturday, Aug. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Heath, left, and Penny Gursky.
