State officials showing grit

Dear Editor:

I commend Gov. Corbett and the PA Senate and the PA House of Representatives for passing the state budget ON TIME and with NO TAX INCREASE. For the last eight years Ed Rendell has employed a tax and spend agenda that made many Pennsylvanians nice and warm and cozy, at the expense of the hard working taxpayers. Taxes were raised. Reserves were depleted. And funds were diverted from their original intended purpose. This administration campaigned on fiscal responsibility and living their promises. Most citizens want the budget streamlined and for their taxes to come down; but many say "I hope they don't cut anything that affects me." We must all face the reality that there is no free ride. The near future will not be easy. But fiscal responsibility will ultimately improve our economy. The administration has begun phasing out the Capitol Stock and Franchise Tax. This will be a help to all businesses within Pennsylvania. It will help companies to create more jobs, which will lead to an increased tax base, which will lead to greater success of our economy and our government.I commend Gov. Corbett and the administration for taking the bold steps and by standing by the tough decisions even when it was not popular.Lee BeckerEast Penn Twp.
