A major subdivision in Packer Township received conditional approval from the Carbon County Planning Commission recently.

During the monthly meeting of the commission on Tuesday, the board voted to recommend conditional plan approval on a subdivision between Kovatch Enterprises, Inc., and Wayne S. and Daniel C. Postupack. The proposed subdivision is located on Fire Line Road on the Broad Mountain, near the boundary line of Carbon and Schuylkill counties, in Packer Township.Ivan O. Meixell Jr., county planner, outlined the plan before any action was taken.He said that the plan calls for a 36.636-acre tract being subdivided from Postupack's land and combined with a 3,413.67-acre plot owned by Kovatch Enterprises. The new lot would then total 3,450.307 acres.Meixell said that no development plans for the land is proposed.One condition that must be met before the plan can go through is Packer Township must issue waivers since no development is proposed, Meixell said.He then read his recommendation of the plan, which states, "The Carbon County Planning Commission, in reviewing the above subdivision believes we found minor areas of non-compliance with the Packer Township Land Development Ordinances. We therefore, recommend conditional plan approval of this subdivision provided that requested plan waivers are granted."The board passed 7-0. Rodger Danielson and Fred Bresswein were absent.The board also took action on two other proposed subdivisions. They are as follows:• Alton L. Green/William T. and Betty L. Green received conditional plan approval for their proposed subdivision/lot line revision at 165 Wintergreen Road, Towamensing Township. The plans call for subdividing 2 acres off the current 172.3-acre lot and combining it with Alton Green's 4.9926-acre plot to make a new 6.9926-acre lot.• Peter P. Jr. and Martha Balogach and Kerry J. and Kelly S. Solt received plan approval for their proposed subdivision/lot line revision at 190/192 S. Second St., and 224 Iron St., Lehighton. The plan calls for subdividing a .152-acre lot into two lots and combining .063 acres with Balogach's existing land to make a .1-acre lot.
