A Monroe County man was jailed on Thursday following a shooting incident in which he allegedly fired a shotgun into a home, and also for the sexual assault of a young girl.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the suspect as Jonathan Leach, 20, of Pocono Summit.

Police gave the following account of Leach's arrest.

On Wednesday about 5:25 a.m. officers were dispatched to 210 Fox Lane in the Harvest Acres development in Tobyhanna Township, for a broken window. Upon arrival police determined that the window had been sharttered by a shotgun blast.

Officers then tracked the suspect with the department's K9 unit to a PPL substation. Police then found that the suspect had fired on the substation with a near miss to critical components.

Officers continued to track the suspect to a residence in Camp Minsi. Police then found Leach at his home.

Leach was identified as the person who had committed the shootings. During the course of the investigation police also learned that Leach had been having sexual relations with a 14-year-old female from Swiftwater.

Leach was on probation at the time and was placed in the county prison in Snydersville for probation violation.

Pocono officers charged Leach with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, carrying a firearm without a license, risking a catastrophy, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and related offenses.

Police said the home Leach fired into was occupied by a 78-year-old woman. No injuries were reported in the shattering of the window.
