The Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation will hold its Second Annual Meeting and cocktail party on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at The Restaurant at The Station, North Railroad Street, Tamaqua,
The event is being sponsored by Mauch Chunk Trust Company.
The non-profit foundation was formed in November, 2009 to work independently to assist Tamaqua Area with projects outside of the district's budget.
"Acting autonomously, the foundation will enlist individuals, corporations and foundations in charitable resource raising activities to assist our students in achieving our maximum potential," reads its mission statement.
Since its formation, the Raider Foundation has donated nine Apple iPads, worth a total of $4,770 for the Tamaqua Area High School Library and has announced a scholarship program where it will present up to five $500 awards to Tamaqua Area faculty members as grants to fund programs that will benefit the district's students.
Walter Kruczek, foundation vice president, said the announcement of the teacher grant winners will be made at the annual meeting. The board will also announce its next major project.
