Sewage problem finally fixed

At Slatington's regular meeting of council Monday evening Robin Schmall, of Slatington, said that M. F. Ronca and Sons Inc. has fixed the sewage problems that she brought up at Council's October meeting. Her basement was flooded with sewage water a few times.

"My only problem is that it took this long to get it done," Schmall said. "It should have been handled properly from the beginning. It shouldn't have taken two months."Schmall asked the borough to credit her for last quarter's sewage bill to make up for it. Council voted to credit Schmall's sewer account $115 for two months of service due to the problems that arose during sewer project construction. In other business, Council voted to retain Spotts, Stevens and McCoy Inc. for the projects that they're still working on. Council is going to start looking for candidates for the position of borough engineer. Council also voted to place "No Truck" signs on Fairview Avenue at East Church, Franklin and Washington streets. According to Police Chief David Rachman, a truck bottomed out in that alley already. Councilman Paul Hoffman said that local people know not to go that way with a truck but out of town people don't know about it.
