Towamensing Township holds reorganization meeting

Supervisors Penny Kleintop and Tom Newman retained the positions of chairman and vice chairman of the board of supervisors during the Jan. 3 reorganization meeting at Towamensing Township.

Supervisor Rodney George continues as roadmaster with Chris Beers as assistant roadmaster. George is the delegate for the state convention.Lora Nothstein is secretary for 2011 and Carol Copeland is assistant secretary. Kleintop holds the position of treasurer. Nothstein is also administrative officer for pensions. Copeland is open records officer.The Nanovic Law firm represented by Tom Nanovic is the 2011 township solicitor and George Dydynsky is the zoning board solicitor.Christine Meinhart is zoning officer and Carl Faust is uniform building code officer. He and David Shields are inspectors.Carbon Engineering was retained as the township engineer.Richard Workman was named as the vacancy board chair and as agility program watchdog.The sewage enforcement officer is Shawn Corey of Spotts, Stevens and McCoy.Newman is emergency management coordinator with Gary Anthony as his deputy.Jeremy Barbosa is planning commission secretary with Mike Grube as solicitor.The historical commission remains the same with Roy Christman (consultant), Connie Bieling (consultant), Tom Newman (photographer), Curt Beers, Malcom Campbell, Carol Copeland (chairman), Karl Rolappe (treasurer, secretary), Paul Hoppel and Elise Binder.Bond was set at $550,000 for the treasurer and $25,000 for the office.Mileage for use of a personal vehicle was set at 42.5 cents per mileSupervisors' meetings will be held the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m., planning commission meets the second Monday at 7 p.m., recreation meeting is the third Thursday and the historical commission meets the fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. Zoning meetings are as needed.In the following regular supervisors meeting permission was given to purchase a new snowplow for $9,963 from CoStars.Christmas tree pickup at regular garbage pickup sites will be held Jan. 19 and 20.The township will work on a checklist for people who want to add land to the Agriculture Security Area.A list of 15 events that firemen may participate in under workman's compensation was approved.Emergency forms are available at the office to be filled out for people who may need special help during a residential emergency. Papers will be filed with the communications center and will not be made public.Outdoor wood burning stoves will be regulated according to state guidelines.Zoning hours will be Jan. 10, 17, 24 and 31, 5 to 7 p.m. Appointments may be set up by emailing
